Was the unit ID nomenclature from some other source?Β I ask because it is way off from real-world.

The unit ID was given to me by the customer and supposedly is from the Aliens RPG books.

Odd, I wonder if they know proper naming conventions then.
Marine Corps unit designations begin with the smallest sized unit and move up like 'Team - Squad or Section - Platoon - Company or Battery - Battalion - Regiment - Division'.Β (i.e. 1st Team, SMAW Section, Weapons Platoon, Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 23rd Marines, 4th Marine Division).
In the designation the Dimsdale gave you they are not only describing this unit as belonging to both the 1st Marine Regiment ('1st Marines') and 5th Marine Regiment ('5th Reg') at the same (NOT possible), they are designating it with the completely bizarre 'Regiment-Battalion-Regiment-Team' label, the military equivalent of nonsensical baby babble. Β Even if we assume they meant to designate the 1st Marine Division with '1st Marines' (plausible considering the inclusion of 2/5's unit crest) it still goes Division-Battalion-Regiment-Team...no platoon, no company, and still out of proper order.
Oh...and you misspelled Embarked (Emnarked)
Otherwise, truly gorgeous map...I apologize for my OCD about the unit thing...

Most of the colonies are corporation property or small independent worlds/collections of worlds. Earth is a divided and poverty stricken overpopulated shithole thats still comprised of Nation states while the interstellar megacorps whole all the real power out of system while Mars holds most power in Sol itself. By reading the Aliens comics, digging into the expanded universe and the games etc all this is eventually revealed although things may change after Prometheus was released.

Didn't know that actually.
I always got the impression that the US basically outsourced all the colonization work to Weyland-Yutani for Uncle Sam's benefit.

I wouldn't know; the source I worked off wasn't nation-specific.
