you have to move it or you are breaking the rules
as you said 'if we dont follow the rules, for one person, we have to do it for everyone.' so lead by example

I am a professional music photojournalist, i take photos of bands on tour and local gigs. my photos are published in newspapers and music magazines in England, but then someone from devART comes and moves them out of their correct category - photojournalism/concerts and musicians. How dare they! why should i have to justify my work and my profession to them?

ahaha "how dare they!"
Consider starting your own website. you can put things wherever you'd like!
Being as they host your work free of charge, you certainly shouldn't be complaining about something like this.
I've personally had a few things moved by fox, as well as others. I've never said a word in complaint. it's not my site, it's managed by someone else.
It's great if your photos get published in england by whoever, but here, it's someone else's game.
Frankly i'll give the same advice i give to anyone complaining about something optional:
If you don't like it, Leave.
There's really no need to attempt to slander fox's work just because you don't agree with a decision he has made as a director of dA. It seems a bit immature to me, but maybe that's just one opinion.
I'm done posting my responses on this page. If you feel we're not done, please note me instead.

that's my point. I am a music photojournalist and i take photos of musicians in concert and on tour as well.
DevART had no right to take my photos out of the category.

Isn't it their website?
Don't they have the right to do whatever they want?
I've found the following helpful:
FAQ #634: Why was my deviation relocated or moved?
This too:
Guidelines for Deviants;
Quality and Placement
It is our policy is to welcome artists of all levels from amateur to professional and to that end we do not attach any minimum standards of quality to deviations submitted by our membership; all manner of artworks are welcome providing they meet with our etiquette and copyright policies. While we do not impose quality standards we do ask that you practice self-moderation in what you choose to submit and that you submit your works into the most appropriate gallery. While we encourage the submission of only your very best works we have provided an area for those submissions which may fall short of that βtop qualityβ mark; this is your βScrapbookβ gallery and we highly encourage its use.
Our gallery directors, during the course of their routine duties, may elect to move one or more of your deviations from the Gallery categories into a different, more appropriate, section or into the Scrapbook category; we ask that you accept this decision gracefully and with a mature attitude. If you desire a full explanation for this action, or if you feel the administrative action was performed in error, you should submit an inquiry to the official deviantART Helpdesk and include a link to the relevant deviation. Please do not bring these issues into the Forums, userpages, or other areas of deviantART.

This image does not break the rules, not in the slightest.
IF it looks too good or something, thats because i am a professional freelance photojournalist.

It doesn't look THAT good it's nice. But not striking, and according to you it wouldn't look newsworthy.
I am Also a professional freelance photojournalist. That's how i make my living.

Say what you will, you arent going to piss me off.. You said you had been shooting for 30 years, im suprised that you take this minor thing and blow it out of proportion like you are.
If you continue to leave rediculous comments, i will just block you from my page.

it's not minor TO ME. I don't want to fight with you i want to get along with everyone. BUT i don't like having my things moved like that. it's like someone rummaging in my underwear drawer. I have been attacked by other photographers when i had my equipment stolen and had to use the on camera flash in a dark pub saying it was no longer proper photography. That didn't stop it from being published in SHAM! the way it was though. I just wanted you to have an idea of what it FEELS like. so you can understand the pain of it but you CAN'T understand because you do what you want and no one questions you. I work hard on these photos, sometimes hours. The Magazines feel they are proper photojournalism, and yet you expect me to justify myself to you when you said yourself you don't like to do that to anyone else.

No, a rhetorical statement is not crying on my pictures because i moved yours.
that is called whining.
You have not been mistreated, you were not targeted, nor were you the recipient of unfair treatment. You have been allowed to host images here for free (choosing to buy a subscription)

straightfromcamera In reply to jazzylemonade [2008-03-17 20:41:35 +0000 UTC]
haha oh my god.
This is not altered. The difference between my images and yours is that if i put this up next to the original (untouched) picture, it will look almost exactly the same
what i did to this image: levels. sharpen.

I have not been cruel, i am merely providing a service of moving miscategorized deviations.

Because they were in a category reserved for news worthy images, that had extensive image wide alterations on them. I did you a service by keeping them in the digital Darkroom category.
Please in the future read the gallery descriptions when submitting art, if not followed they could possibly be moved to the correct category, at which time you may contact the help desk if you feel it was moved improperly.
