Description
This package contains the complementary 64bits files for the visual style "Albook extended VS V1.2" [link]Updated: New version of explorer.exe file in order to avoid problems that could be caused by the latest Windows updates.
Please note that all this conversion work has been made by my friend DELRUBB [link] ! I strongly suggest to all german speaking people to visit his website [link] !
An other person I have to thank is ToMOFFeL [link] , 'cause he beta-tested all of the files included into this package!
The package contains:
- explorer.exe (File Version 6.0.6001.18000)
- browseui.dll
- imageres.dll
- shellstyle.dll
- shell32.dll
- wmploc.dll (windows media player skin)
- A text file about how to install those system files
To complete this package, you can download the full icon set here [link] for .ico, and here [link] for .png
Notes:
- All the system files are made to work together (for example, if you install the visual style without the shell32.dll, the left part of your control panel will look like shit!).
- The folder band toolbar is in auto-hide mode, I don't use it at all, so a simple mouse over will make it appear.
- Don't try to change things if you have doubts about the manipulation needed, bad manipulations would damage your program or your system.
- The original Albook concept is from Laurent Baumann ([link] or [link]).
He is the creator of 357 albook icons and the UNIQUE owner of the albook icon project.
- Please not that his work is under a Creative Common Licence 2.5 ([link]).

The visual style is included in the main package with some other skins.
All I hope, it's that there are not too much system files that have been updated since sp2 release (I only have 32 bits at home and can't work on 64 bits files if nobody send them to me lol).

Ce qui m'échappe à moi qui suis simple d'esprit, c'est le pourquoi du comment on doit mettre des versions 64bits dans C:\Windows\System32 plutôt que, par exemple, dans C:\Windows\SysWOW64 lorsqu'on utilise un Vista64... Je sais, c'est ballot... Mais c'est quoi la différence entre ces dossiers ?
Voilà !.. Sinon, ce VS est très, mais alors très très beau !

lol non, tu n'es pas simple d'esprit, et dans l'affaire, ça serait plutôt moi le simple d'esprit!
En fait, je n'ai pas d'OS 64 bits sous la main, et mes amis sont soit sous xp, soit sous des distributions Linux, du coup je fais comme je peux en pêchant les fichiers chez d'autres deviantARTistes. Donc, je ne suis pas très au point sur le 64 bits.
A force de faire des deviations à la sortie du boulot, il m'arrive de choses élémentaires comme ce que tu viens de me signaler.
Puis bon, avec les updates de vista et des autres applications, plus les requêtes de nouvelles icônes, le plus tu en fais, le plus tu as de maintenance et de demandes.
Mais enfin, on fait tous ça pour le plaisir et pour partager
Pourquoi est-ce qu'on doit mettre dans SysWOW64 et pas dans system32? Sincèrement, je n'en sais rien, sans doute une question de structure sous 64 bits, en tout cas, c'est ceux que je connais et qui utilisent Vista 64 qui m'ont donné l'information pour les dossiers de destination.
N'hésite pas à demander si tu as des questions ou des commentaires à faire, c'est tjrs avec plaisir! (en plus, ici y'a peu de trolls et pas mal de critiques constructives).

Elémentaire, mon cher Watson ! Suffit-ce que j'arrête de jouer trente secondes avec la Sidebar de mon Vista64 tout neuf pour trouver ze answer :
"WoW64 stands for "Windows on 64-bit Windows", and it contains all the 32-bit binary files required for compatibility, which run on top of the 64 bit Windows. So, yeah it looks like a double copy of everything in System32 (which despite the directory name, are actually 64-bit binaries)."
... Donc, les fichiers 64 bits dans le "System32" et les compatibilités 32 bits dans le SysWOW64 ! Pfff !.. Comment j'y avais pô pensé ?!..

Booooh, t'utilises la sidebar! T'as pas tenté yahoo widgets par exemple? y'en a quelques uns de vraiment sympas et pas intrusifs (c'est en fait ce que je reproche à la sidebar, avec le manque de widgets variés, style pour surveiller le monitoring des températures ou des ventilos).
Pour le taf', ça ne s'est pas fait en un jour, mais petit à petit ça avance, y'a un an j'aurais été incapable de créer la moindre icone et encore moins de faire un skin. Là, je finalise "albook extended CD Art Display" et une update du set d'icones

Don't hesitate to look at the description of the file, it gives many links to skins agreeing with the theme, and the albook icons that you can see on the preview

Thanks, I have home premium and a 64 bit OS, however I experienced an error which required me to restore twice while installing this and people posted about Ultimate. My problem was actually my Explorer version, I have 6.0.6001.18000, is there a patched explorer in my version?
By the way I have the theme on my computer with everything except for the explorer, and it is amazing

I'm having an issue with explorer crashing on reboot running Vista Ultimate x64. My current version of explorer.exe is 6.0.6001.18164 whereas your edit is ver *18000. The date for mine is 10/29/2008. Wondering if this might be the cause. Everything is fine after I restore the modded files.
Your work looks outstanding and I'm anxious to get it going so any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, and yeah, you're right, the version of explorer.exe is older than yours, so it can't work with your system.
A friend of mine has made the 64 bits system files 'cause I don't have any 64 bits OS at home. When he sent me the files, he told me everything was up to date with his vista, but I had a doubt about it 'cause a recent update had changed some system files like explorer.exe.
Well, you have two options:
1. Not using the "modded" explorer.exe files (it's only a minor change 'cause it just affects the reboot/shutdown/embed buttons of the start menu, nothing else is affected).
2. Sending me a copy of your explorer.exe in order to help me to have this file for sending you a changed one (and making a little update of the 64bits package).

Ah. My bad. I thought I had read that you had provided an update for MS's December release of explorer.exe for x64, but that was over in the 32bit thread.
It all makes so much sense now.
Anyway, any plans for a fix? I'm big on UIs that don't fight with content for attention and yours is the most aesthetically pleasing I've seen to date.

Okay, what's that toolbar above the taskbar, I'm young and new too alot of customizing, but i'm getting the hang of it.
I just like that little bar, it's a very nice VS btw.
Been looking for a lighter version and will be sure to try it after I'm bored of SteelFlash

The toolbar is an highly customizable Yahoo! Widget named "Informer".
It can work with speedfan temperature/fan sensors, for keeping an eye on the thermal health of the computer (particularly if it's overclocked).
It also can give you the date, the time, the wifi quality, the network activity, the disks free spaces, the ratio of activity for the ram or the processor, check your new mails, etc... I love it!
Steelflash is a very nice and full concept, very colored, so very different of albook extended

Yes, I did really like your albook, but atm i'm going for a minimalistic dark theme, i'm using Transblack v1, Looking for a nice background to suit it at the moment :/
But i'll be sure to try albook out eventually.

To my mind, Transblack V1 and Lumen VS [link] are counting through the list of the best dark visual styles.
Albook extended is just a clear work which has started from Albook icon concept. A visual style made to match with albook style icons!

My only problem with Albook Extended, Is that in the picture,
It seems very crowded. Obviously, That won't be for every person.
Just put me off that theme for a small while.
I'm a picky person and change my mind about things alot.

I can understand that, but it's the preview which is looking like that... Everything is crowded 'cause there are a lot of things shown!
I have a Full HD wide screen, and opened a lot of windows to show how many changes have been made compared to the main Vista classic theme... to show that there's absolutely nothing remaining unchanged, in fact.

Well, I had been going for black for a while..
And realised it's time for a change.. so I tried Albook..
And I must say i am very impressed, I'm half way through installing it and i've been trying for 15 minutes 
I just need to know, how do you change your SystemTray Icons?
and, If you use PSTRayFactory How do you do it in that?
But i am very impressed and i'll get you a screenshot when i am done.

Well, for the tray icons, I don't use PSTrayFactory. I use reshacker or Restorator 2007 to edit the .exe files of the programs and change the main icons by home made adjusted to the right sizes. It's a bit longer but not that hard to make (and it works on the icons present on the taskband for active/inactive windows).

I've got it all up. I'm having trouble with Explorer.exe.
I have the x64 bit edition and everytime i change it, it keeps crashing.
Then i have to access explorer through Task Manager and change it.
Although, I doesn't take long, it's a drag.
And is there anyway like through remote assistance that you can like. Change my tray icons? I only need volume and the network one changed.

Hi! Sorry for the late answer, but my work is taking a lot of my free time!
There are some tutorials included into the package, explaining how to apply the theme and the system files, but be carefull if it's the first time you're trying to apply a specific theme.
