This pair shows a direct, vigorous attention to the task at hand, and I'm always surprised when such power of thought — and of body — is shown in so few lines. The color helps greatly to add depth to the scene, but isn't strictly necessary.
With such determination, that catapult doesn't have a chance in hell. She could tear it apart just with those swords!
This fave is part of my "Do a Turnover of My Recent Favorites, with Comments, Catching Up on Overdue Recognition, as an Alternative to the Stupor Bowl" initiative. What better way to get a diversion from the Bread and Circuses spectacle? (It's certainly better than the much-vaunted commercials being shown this afternoon.)

love this composition Steve! the colors came out really nice. why did you use art rage? do you prefer it over photoshop or is ti because photoshop is an arm and a leg?

i've got photoshop on my computer and use it for most of my colors. but i use it because i'm comfortable with it. when i first tried corel painter it opened my eyes to other drawing programs. corel painter is cool but very sluggish and crashes alot. maybe those pc users are use to crashes, but on a mac i never crash unless i'm using painter. i tried sketchbook pro, and the user interface was cool but it lacked alot of necessary tools for coloring, like a lasso selection tool. the lasso selection tool in sketchbook pro is really a fancy eraser. looking around online i stumbled on artrage, artrage studio pro the more expenssive, but still only a wapping 80.00, which is cheap, contained almost all the tools i wanted, still missing some phot editing and color adjustment tools i use in photoshop, but had all the painting tools and options including a lasso selection tool and magic wand and some basic color adjustment tools. it also seemed to have a user interface close to sketchbook pro. i took a chance and i really like artrage studio pro. theres still a learning curve but i think i'll try doing more colors with it. out of all the coloring programs i've used trying to find a better painting program than photoshop. artrage studio pro is the best by far and at a fair price. artrage website is [link]

awesome. i thought you had photoshop but was just curious. yeah, sketchbook pro is mostly a drawing program. alot of the pro guys like skottie young use it for doing pencils then print it out and do the inks by hand. or bring it into manga studio to ink. i love sketchbook pro but hate drawing with the mouse. it is pain. i might have to try out artrage. sounds great
