Hi) It's beautiful!
Does this one has the particular bacground taken from cinema or gaming, or is it is your pure fantasy? Thanks

Thank you The ground and clouds are completely made up. I took photos of clouds and aerial shots and pulled the colors from them using the eye dropper but I basically used any cloud type brush and creamy blend brushes to create my own shapes. I try and hand paint everything I do to give that traditional quality and look instead of photo manipulation.

Minimalist, yet profound; careful brushstrokes, yet the colours practically scream for attention. I am in love.

I love this piece and was wondering how you created the clouds. I am an aspiring digital and traditional artist so I'm trying to learn from the best that I see.

Hey thanks I appreciate it. I usually search google for cloud references and if I see a color palette I like I will pull the colors from that photo and use a blend/creamy type brush to create my own. If you're using ArtRage 5 they have new custom brushes with cloud settings that can help you lay down a good foundation for your clouds. Then switch to the pastel to create that creamy blend look. Β Clouds aren't just white they usually pull the colors in their environment, if you look at the clouds in this painting you'll see there's easily 5-7 different shades of colors. This is why I always use references to pull colors from with the eye dropper to have some form of accuracy when making my own clouds.
If you're in Photoshop, there are a ton of cloud brushes you can download for free to help you start a solid base before switching to a different brush to define them. What program are you using? If you're using traditional, that's a whole different process. I've used watered down acrylics in an airbrush to create some nice clouds in my paintings. Oils if you lay down a base layer of shapes and colors then use a really wide (similar to the kind you pain your walls with) dry brush to lightly skim the top layer you can create a very smooth blend.

Wow! Thanks so much for your detailed response! I am really really thankful for your help! Right now I am using an iPad mini with the ArtRage app and Adobe Photoshop Sketch, all the DA I have uploaded was done in sketch but I am trying ArtRage mobile and seeing how that works. Thanks so much for the traditional art tips as well! Again, I am very grateful for your help and tips, your art has also really inspired me!

My pleasure Are you using the Apple Pencil by any chance? I haven't tried the iPad version of ArtRage yet, I tend to work on the PC primarily due to the file size I normally work in. I have a friend that works on the iPad pro with apple pencil and it looks like it's pretty responsive. I do see a lot of artists work on ArtRage and Procreate together, that might be something for you to look into because they might mesh well together.Β

Huh, I never thought of using both together, and unfortunately I don't use the Apple Pencil, I have tried it and it is AMAZINGLY good. I use the Adonit Jot Pro which works very very well and it's not Bluetooth. Also, what kind of computer do you have and how do u make your drawings (Stylus and pad)?

Well I believe more so bouncing Β between each program because there's usually some limitation you can compensate by using an additional program. Β I saw the Jot Pro on youtube, looks like it performs pretty much the same. Β I'm running windows 10 pro on an I7 47900K, 16GB ram, GTX 1080 video card. Not the latest and greatest but I'm able to run any paint program without issues. I also tend to work in the 8000 x 5000 pixel @ 300 dpi range. Tablet wise I have a Wacom Intuos Pro and Huion WH1409 that I bounce between. I've been using the WH1409 quite a bit though, the wireless works better on it than the Wacom. I haven't switched to a Cintiq because I prefer to have ultra wide monitors that offer more space to work with than what a Cintiq has.

Wow! Thanks so much for telling me that, it's SUPER helpful, I uploaded a piece a while ago with clouds that I had experimented with. I used the oil brush and the palette knife with the frost effect to add some interesting details. Once again, thanks for your amazing help and support!
