Description A mix of the traditional Maori Adze shape overlayed with the Celtic inspired knot this is quite an old carving, but it's taken a lot of work to separate it from my wife.  It's the first gift I  ever gave her after we met. The reason for the mix of cultural identities is because it's very indicative of my upbringing in New Zealand.

The carving is beef bone and is 90mm long, the cord is hand plaited hemp.  I like making the join from the carving to the cord more than just a simple loop as it feels more like an integrated piece of the work, this one is a kind of blanket edge stitch inspired wrap.  The celtic knot design I can't claim although it is modified from the original, it's one of many scraps of images lying about in my files that I have no idea where they come from.

I'm working on variations on this theme for sale now.
