Description This is a 3D scene that I then painted into to add a lot of the fine details (like the dust plumes and distant ships). The 3D was modeled and rendered using Lightwave 3D.

The textures were painted in Photoshop.

The ringed planet is the same 3D planet I have used elsewhere: [link]

I've taken to naming my "exo-planets" after people I know, and this is named for a longtime friend and colleague.

You certainly get those imaginations inhabitants of other dimensions and other planets with existing lives. I know you have a lot of talent in this kind of work, but if you believe in other people is certainly with the thoughts and ideas focused on this element type.

I've had some imaginations alike that when I woke up I did not want to return, are things that I do not know how to explain, but able to demonstrate in Art. But I do not have any tool to be able to express these views I have.

I really wanted to be able to draw so that neither you, Congratulations.

NOTE: (Google Translate) I'm from Brazil and unfortunately I can not speak English.

This "thing" here feels a bit copy&pasted... maybe some variety would help... I don't know, maybe different antennas or something...

I was about to complain about how the environment looks too dull, bland, and angular. But as soon as I saw that this was a painted 3D render, I almost shat myself. Nice stuff!

Was just wondering how many of these things you need to cover a planet - they look pretty close together

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

steve-burg In reply to Regulus36 [2011-10-06 06:30:01 +0000 UTC]

I think this would be at the pole(s). The planet is a moon of a gas giant, so it would be bombarded by radiation and heavy particles trapped in the parent planet's magnetic field. Jupiter's magnetic field is colossal, and radiation levels in its vicinity are very unfavorable due to that...

To enable human activity on my fictional moon, the colonists would need to do a bit of engineering to provide an atmosphere and shield the inhabitants from the lethal radiation onslaught.

Probably there's some compelling reason for going to this extreme - some valuable resource or something analogous. Otherwise, why bother trying to live there?

A bit like Io but with less volcanoes then? Sounds like it's probably a great place to live

It's probably about as populous as Antarctica - but that might be ideal. No urban congestion or freeway gridlock!

The lighting and color-work you used here really adds to the realism.
