Wow, you're fantastic at backgrounds! The character is adorable and well-drawn as well, but the scenery really makes this piece special. I love the way you used hatching, dabs, and stroke-marks in your coloring to shade and add texture. Combined with the opaque highlights, it results in a very visually appealing drawing! And the character just looks so happy that it makes me happy, too. 
Definitely adding this to my favs.
