“Her face is a mirror. She is a mirror… an instrument from Hell.” Said the villagers, when they encountered Ofelia's face. A face so statuesque, so perfect, so unhuman, that it seemed to be made not by God, but by the Devil. It was so neutral that, sometimes, when she had her eyes closed, people would see their own faces in hers. They would see their reflection, and thus become tormented. This face would forever be her burden, since it caused her rejection from normal people. It was until the day she made a deal with a demon, that she lost her burden- she lost her face, and received a pair of wings and hollow bones. The transformation brought pain onto her, and now, faceless and deformed, she could but hate her appereance... and the demon trapped her in a mirror, so she could live with it forever.So, this is a little Ofelia, deutagonist for my story, The Faceless Village. She is a ghost now, a spirit trapped inside a mirror. She had her face stolen, she was so afraid of "facing" the world, that she made a trade with a demon.. and the demon took away her face. She would never have to "face" the world now. Her owl face is a mask to cover her severed skull. Hope you guys like this sketchy and messy drawing.

This is a beautiful piece of art - I followed it from Hazumonster's site - and even if there hadn't been a story to her, I would have been fascinated by the style and where it would take my imagination. Happily, you provided a story and its better than my imagination. The character evokes a gentle care because even though I can't see her face, I can relate to the human-ness that exists within her, the insecurities that drove her to become this ghost. She is a sympathetic character, and the art communicates that as well as the written story. Lovely job.
