I've liked this fairytale for a while, now, so of course I had to make a cut-paper illustration of it. Designing the Queen was a blast - took a good amount of cues from Russian and Mongolian clothing design, and threw quite a bit of snowy owl in there, too.Original size 8.5 x 10.5 inches.
I'll upload a better, more detailed photograph when I can. For now, I must make do.

No, this was an assignment for one of my illustration classes last year.
It'd be fun to make the entire book, though, for sure! So many beautiful scenes in that story.
