This is actually a preliminary sketch that I did for someone's shoes. I took this sketch and used it as the concept for the shoes. I prefer to illustrate on white Stan Smith Adidas since it is all white and like a blank canvas.The shoes had the "toxic" writing on the heel...the hazardous waste sign on the toe of the shoes with toxic fumes and gas emminating from it and going down the sides of the shoe with the little toxic guys coming out of the gas. The gas mask guy was on the tongue of the shoe.

Ummmm....from my experience, it's not that difficult. Although, fortunately the people that have requested shoes from me have just requested line work so I have not had to paint or color anything on shoes...which I imagine would make the task much more difficult.
In my experience it's all a process....clean shoe, light pencil line, ink, add color, spray sealent.
The process probably differs from artist to artist, but that's what I do. You should try it out and let me know how it turns out.

A Damn fine pic indeed but I have to ask, how hard is it to work on shoes?
I've seen some outstanding stuff people have drawn on their kicks before but it seems like it'd be a hell of a task to pull off. o.o
