'neon genesis evangelion' is the name of this anime, though you do not see this scene in the anime
you see it in the movies, evangelion 3.33 you can (not) redo, which is apart of a beautifully redone series.  the original was made in 1995

the anime,  and movies take completely different turns from one another, i don't know about the manga but i believe that one takes a turn too

i hated shiji(the brown haired kid) in the animes, sorta liked him the movies, and i don't know about the mangas
i personally liked kaworu in the 3rd movie and anime for the short time he was .....um...... spoilers alive

but if you do decide to watch, they will be making references to the bible and ancient civilizations
all of which i didn't know about when i first watched the series at the tender age of 10.

and there are two different endings to the anime.  the fake one cause the original was to graphic for america(remember it came out in 1995) and the real ending 'The End of Evangelion'
that was not included in the box set that my brother bought.  So i had to buy it separately.

a preview, one of the reasons why they had to rewrite the ending episodes and it does have a lot of spoilers in it
