My campaign is centered around a mining/prospecting operation on Aurore in the Tanstaafl colony. The miners are stuck in the middle of nowhere when the alien Kafers attack and have to hold out while organizing survivors into a guerrilla force. Your buildings are perfect for the pre-fabricated houses and buildings for the Auroran "Hotback".

You can imagine the panic as survivors from other homesteads arrive, not knowing quite what has happened and the players being forced to deal with , not only hostile aliens who think war is a sport, but also frightened, angry, wounded refugees. Perfect start for a sci-fi campaign.

They are worth a read on wikipedia for the basics. They were those nasty little brushfire wars of the 1950s and 1960s with communist rebels slaughtering at will and local forces and farmers holding them off. Where the French and Americans lost in Vietnam, the British won in Malaysia and the rHodesians won but political pressure gave power to the losers and Zimbabwe was born. Converting the background to sci-fi with the colonial governments being the colonist and the rebel/communist guerrillas being aliens is an easy step.
