So, fairly recently I fell in love with the Khmer empire and especially Angkor (may I suggest you, at the very least, look at Angkor from Google Maps? It's absolutely amazing)Truth be told, I didn't really put a lot of thought into this. Basically the idea was that Khmer was able to assert it's power over the Thai and Mon peoples once and for all, and become the definite state in South East Asia, except for Majapahit, who competes with Khmer over the East Indian trade.
