Man. This one is beautiful. It gives a 'aftermath' feeling, with a sad tone, that reminds us of all the war losses. Again, beautiful. Congrats for the work

I think that it'd be wiser to move it to one of the Lagrange points... L4 or L5.

But then again, astrophysicists the cutscene artists are not.

What's wrong with a regular orbit?

(In universe, they could probably 'park' it anywhere they'd want, using mass effect fields )

Reapers, maybe not, on account of them being nigh-invulnerable to collisions, but little puny organics' ships are not.  The ME2 fluff text for Earth in the galaxy map notes that kinetic barriers are needed for orbits due to debris.  After the climactic battle of the Reaper War, there'd be probably exponentially more debris in orbit.

As I said earlier, it's not the fact that it's around Earth so much as that it's two heavy traffic spaces in close proximity: a major homeworld AND the hub of galactic civilization right in orbit.  On top of the debris.  Collisions abound.

Orbital debris.  Not only from the climactic clash, but from pre-existing debris from bootstrap space development.  And also space traffic.  The Citadel is the nexus of interstellar civilization.  And now it's orbiting a homeworld of a Council race.  Heavy traffic on top of existing heavy traffic.

Ahhh, thanks! It certainly explains why none of the Citadel species would want the citadel in orbit of earth.
But the reapers were the ones that placed the Citadel in orbit around earth, and I don't think they'd care about some more garbage in orbit.

Oops, replied to the wrong level...

Ohhhh, you mean, it should be moved, now that the battle is over. Yeah, that makes sense. And that's probably exactly what they're preparing for in this artwork

Not as foggy and bright as mine I need to work on details ><
Really nice work
I already have it in my faves but making my own made made me want to comment Now I know how hard it's to make something like that Lights inside looks great. And also adding shadow is a nice touch

how Citadel starts orbiting Earth? play ME3 again

The Reapers brought it there. Fine. How did they do that?

MadCat221 In reply to derlich [2013-05-10 08:31:42 +0000 UTC]

How do the Reapers do a lot of things? They've passed the technological singularity long ago, they can easily break physics as we know it.

derlich In reply to MadCat221 [2013-05-10 11:11:41 +0000 UTC]

Then they should have taken it right away.

DarkRiku90 In reply to derlich [2013-06-14 10:50:47 +0000 UTC]

Reapers created the Citadel,so isn't difficult for them to move it,
since the Citadel is a giant mass relay

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

derlich In reply to DarkRiku90 [2013-06-14 13:45:07 +0000 UTC]

From the Citadel you can control all the Mass Relays. So why not take it right away? It's the best way to control the battlefield. In which I mean the galaxy. I think the writers just wanted the last part of the game to be on Earth, but didn't bother to explain how the Citadel got there. One sentence could have wrapped that up nicely.

DarkRiku90 In reply to derlich [2013-06-16 15:54:45 +0000 UTC]

if Reapers followed Logic, they could have just attacked the Citadel, take control of it and shutdown all relays, making only to the vessels provided (reapers)with IFF to travel, bringing caos and panic,so they can destroy all civilizations without risking to be defeated, that's how they always won.
but in ME3,the citadel is the last place they conquer, and even built a structure on Earth that leads to Reaper shutdown\destroy system.

Probably raided it when Shepard and the N7 Spec. Ops weren't looking and seized the controls. Like Sovereign tried to do but was thwarted by Shepard.

Considering it took Cerberus around about the forces they deploy in a single full Gold match to almost take it...
