Description The Venom symbiote bonding with a new host

Just felt like doing a random female Venom. It's not depicting anyone specific from the comics.

The funny thing is that, originally, Venom WAS going to be a woman!

You know, instead of Eddie Brock, the Venom symbiote was originally supposed to go from Parker to a woman who had a grudge of her own against Spider-Man. The story was to be that a cabbie watching Spider-Man as he was driving hit and kills her husband trying to flag him down, she was also pregnant at the time, but lost the child. However, that idea was discarded because Marvel at the time felt that readers would not view a woman as a physical threat to Spidey (nevermind the fact that a woman with the Venom symbiote would by definition be physically stronger than Spidey, just like scrawny Cletus Kasady is with the Carnage symbiote), and in turn became something of a self-fulfilling prophecy in that Spidey doesn't have many memorable female villains.

Alright then.Β  To be honest with you, though, putting aside the initial sexist dismissal of it, the idea still has flaws.Β  Plenty of people have pointed out that the woman would've more likely been angry with, the cabbie, God, or the universe for what happened rather than at Spidey.Β  With a bit of tweaking here and there, this still could've been a really good story.

Eh, I feel it credible that she could and would have been angry at both Spider-Man AND the cabbie. Plus, Spidey's the more easily accessible and tangible target than a random person or a non-intervention deity she can't touch. I myself went with their original idea in almost it's entirety for MY Marvel Universe.

Also, I think the dismissal was less sexist on the part of the Marvel people and more them assuming that their audience was sexist, if that makes any sense.Β

Well, I'm playing with it a bit in one of my fics "A Marvel Transformation" (a 3-way, in-universe crossover between Marvel, DC, & Transformers Prime), though I'm not saying how because that would be spoiling things.

It's still kind of sexist no matter how you look at it, though I can understand that at the time they thought that it wasn't marketable.Β  Nowadays, it would be, when you're not dealing with fans who are rabid and think "THIS IDENTITY BELONGS TO THAT CHARACTER!" that is.

Hey, I actually agree with some of those "THIS IDENTITY BELONGS TO THAT CHARACTER!" people, considering poorly written token replacements for Marvel's best characters isn't really a move I agree with. Granted, I do like Miles a lot, but the rest are either uninteresting or else stuck in stories too drenched in heavy handed identity politics in lieu of proper storytelling. But, that's a different issue altogether.Β

True, I'm not arguing that the identity politics thing isn't a problem, I just don't like how toxic and extreme some people can be about it on either side of the argument.Β  Plus, I admittedly do like certain characters having a specific superhero identity more than others.

Hmm I may do more but I don't really plan things. I just do what ever happens to pop into my head at the time.

I would like to make a full Venom head for her but I don't know if my modeling skills are up to that yet.

Thanks

Nice job! A lot of things about this work very well, but I notice the highlights on the black the most.
