First of all, wow. The bright colours and distant path to a beautiful nowhere on Mabel's side and the dark lines and creepy figures on Dipper's side reflect their approaches to life very well.
Secondly, the lines that could only be seen with a flashlight are so amazing and the downward arrow seems to be a very interesting metaphor on how their lives would go downhill near the end of the show and they wouldn't know until it starts.
At least that's the way I see it.
Overall this is a masterpiece.

I tried my very best to make Mabel the colourful side because heck, its Mabel, whereas Dipper starts doubting everyone around him; his sister, his family, his friends, even himself. So I wanted to portray that, especially to how Mabel turns her head away, like shes sad that he cant trust her and Dipper is left to suffer his trust issues on his own. I like to think Mabel did try to reach out, thats why they are sitting together, but if somebody keeps shoving you away, its kinda hard not to get frustrated.
Ahhh other than that, you explained everything else so well, thank you for taking the time to type that, it makes me so happy when somebody acknowledges the thought behind an artwork.
