After moments of intense struggling within her bone-crushing embrace/hold, Shining Armor managed to Pop! right out, mainly in thanks to the large amounts of tanning oil Chrysalis had been using as of late, and flee for his life. He and the Changeling Queen had been having a secret affair for some time following the events of the wedding, before finally deciding to call it off. Chrysalis, naturally, did NOT take it well.

Shining Armor? An affair with Chrysalis?! HOW COULD HE!?! (

I like to think Shining has a thing for tall, strong mares, especially given the whole "Evil is Sexy" trope.
But I'd love to know your interpretation as to why he'd possibly start an affair with the Evil Queen.

I don't know. But the only reason I could think of, after what Chrysalis did to him, was that there is some form of compulsive desire for him to get back with Queen Chrysalis despite his feelings of reprehension for her. Maybe the brainwashing she dealt to his head could have something to do with it, making her develop an attraction to Queen Chrysalis, which would conflict greatly with the love he has for Cadence.
I have a better idea as to why Queen Chrysalis would reciprocate, other than to get another chance to strike back at Equestria - Queen Chrysalis had fed on and used Shining's love for Cadence to overpower Princess Celestia during the Wedding invasion, and she developed an addiction to it, which ended up causing her to develop an irrational attraction to Shining Armor that she didn't previously have.Β
And so, next thing you know, they really, REALLY want to bone each other...
