Description Hey all, today I started work on the sonic 100 challenge.
uh. but this isn't for that. (and it'll probably be a bit still before anything gets posted) *cough*

anyway, I just felt like drawing E-102 Gamma from.. well, I should hope I wouldn't have to say. *
I have to admit that I drew him/her/it from a combination of memory and imagination... I wasn't SPECIFICALLY trying to re-vamp it (as I usually go for accuracy in my drawings I think) but I also didn't WANT to have to dig out a reference, you know? Mostly I stuck to the key details that still stick in my mind to this day about him (flat shaped rotating head, floating hover pack, backwards bending legs, gun, etc..) but wherever there were gaps I made do. for example, I couldn't for the life of me tell you what designs his body had, so I modeled it after the original robotnik design (my brother pointed out that the first eggrobos from S&K were designed like that.. which, yeah, I knew that) along with a different robotnik/eggman (robotnik preferably) symbol on the right side and the beginnings of his serial number (E-102) on his left side.
The arms and legs, since I couldn't remember how they go at all, really had to be thought up from scratch, so I basically used human bone shapes (again, basically) so he'd HAVE limbs... unless you'd prefer I'd submit a limbless torso-bot

Hope people like it

* in case I DO have to say, he's from Sonic Adventure. You should buy a dreamcast. may I suggest getting Sonic Adventure?

Is this as big as it gets? or do you have a larger version?

uh, yeah... I think that's as big as it gets.
would it help to work with the original scan? I think I've still got that in my pictures.

This is awesome for being from memory. And pretty good in general too. I think roughly basing it on Eggman(s) was a cool way to go personally. I wish that the image was bigger/more clear, but I suppose that the drawing might not be that big in the first place. I think regardless of size, you put a lot of amazing detail into this, especially for someone who I don't see a lot of mechanical drawings from often.

I always liked Gamma, I thought she/he/it/them/they/us/ had a really ingaging story. It really takes some simple, but really, really well done turns.

And I am muchly interested in any Sonic 100 things you may have. XD I have a total of... 90% of one... So, for me it's likily not gonna get done, but I still can't wait to see yours! Anyway, good luck with the remainder of the challenge.

The drawing is just about the same size as the picture here (I guess a little smaller)
It's bigger than most of the Viewtiful Joe sketches I've submitted anyway (individual characters I mean >_> )
but, well, I wish it was bigger too!

Mechanical stuff is really complicated, so I don't do it much, but when I do, I find it only looks good if you add a whole lot of detail, though when I think about it, a well made robot (among other mechanical things) would probably be more impressive the LESS complicated it looks on the outside.
Gamma's story, when you think about it, was probably the most significant part of Sonic Adventure, since it pioneered the series work showcasing the villians point of view (a unique aspect used since I dare say)...
but it was also just oozing coolness!
anyway, thanks for the comment, I just kinda went on and on there (feels like it to me anyway)
