Description

This is my picture for Tooaya's Birthday Raffle. This is her OC, Luke. Finished it just in time for her birthday~ ^^

There's a lot of problems with the anatomy, but it helped me to practice and try drawing a full body drawing after I started learning figure drawing in my art class. The background's really simple too, but it serves its purpose.

Good thing this is just a raffle and not based on talent, because I definitely messed up a lot. >.<;

Your talent as an artist is blossoming here wonderfully - I can see where anatomy becomes a problem, but the overall picture is well presented and well drawn - his clothing moves in a dynamic way, theres no stationary - and thats exactly what you want.
My critique would be aimed at his eyes in particular - they are not aligned and its a common error. (I still do this - so far no ones noticed much XD) and its always going to be tricky on an awkward pose. Hips and the legs are also difficult grounds to get right, but in honesty you have done well for a first full body peice.

1 hour 52 mins is very good time to create this

One area that would be good to move onto next is shadowing. it will bring anatomy and clothing to the foreground and slide 'mistakes' out of the limelight... why not give this one a go with a few drop shadows and texture squiggles? compare the two and see what you think. After all with photoshop, its just another layer e.deviantart.net/emoticons/let… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Lick)"/>

Thank you very much for the critique, it was very helpful. ^^

I'm actually still searching to find the most effective coloring style that I can pull off. XD I always seem to have trouble finding where the light is coming from. >.<;

And I guess I'm just a bit confused on your last comment about the shadowing. Do you mean that I should work on the shading itself, or add textures of some sort? Sorry I guess I just didn't quite understand what you meant. ^^'

But thanks again.

aha - either one - everyones style is different. both could wrok well with your style in my eye, but its your comfort zone thats important when you develop. Some artists add no texture marks and some dont use shadow and nothing but texture marks. Why not experiment? Easiest way to play with shadows is having the light from the top down, then when you feel you got down the light and dark play with it from different angles.

Sorry i didnt make sence, but im not a fantastic writer ^^

I guess you're right, thanks for the help. Next step I have is to start experimenting to make a set style. ^^ I'll definitely take your advice and use those tips in the future. ^^

Don't worry about it, you really were a great help.
