We actually had it commissioned to a specialised artesan, as it's not quite easy to bend wood. As for the round shields it's quite easy to make them, but I suppose you already know.

It is lovely! Too much of the stuff is coming out of India in the US. No one is taking the time to make their own any more (okay granted 60,000 links can be a bit much for any one to want to put together but hey! they want realism!). I have my Father's shirts which he made out of 12, 14 and 16 gauge steel. I used to be able to wear them when I was much less a Matronly Otter. When one takes off 40 # of shirt,shield, helm and such I thought I could fly. that was a long time back.
Please tell Luca he looks wonderful and thank the Gods no horns on those helmets!
