ok, next time; double click the 'Background' Layer in PS; once you do, it should come up with a layers property window, click ok and name it whatever you want.

Than

goto Selection> Color Range> Click in a white area of the picture with the eye dropper tool it provides and hit OK

Once you do that hit the delete or backspace button

Make a new layer, put it under the line art and fill it with white and Viola; clean line art. You can then put the colors underneath the line work and adjust them as you paint. Hope that helps.
