I enjoy working with colored pencils myself, but dang I can't do anything like that. How'd you get such sharp lines/texture for their hair? Is it as simple as diligently sharpening your pencils?

Just that! I just sharpen them constantly when coloring the hair.

I guess I need to do that more! They just dull so darn quickly =/. Then again, I'm using some cheap brand of pencils.
If I might bother you with one more question: what are the dimensions this piece? I tend to work in a smaller notebook but it sometimes limits the level of detail.

This one was done in a 5.5x8.5 inch sketchbook. I often switch between my small and larger sketchbooks but I find that I'm able to work quicker in a smaller book for some reason.

I think a have a 3.5x5 inch or something. I've been debating a full-size sketchbook for larger pieces/more detail. But maybe a 5x8 would be a good compromise that's still portable.
