Model Magic air-drying clay, paper mache w/ rice paper and modge podge, and acrylic paint.

That's kinda cool. I like the filigree across the eyebrows (I guess they're eyebrows?)

....more or less? Cool spiral things are never out of place on these masks, it seems.

I use white Crayola Model Magic clay, which is sort of airy and foamy. It dries overnight on the mask form, then I pull it off and paper-mache the mask with calligraphy paper and modge podge. This gives the mask more solidity and keeps any small parts from falling off. Then I paint the mask, and modge podge it again to 'seal' the mask and give the paint some protection. The Model Magic clay is great because it dries very light weight, and the paper-mache keeps it solid and durable.
Next time I make masks, I'll have to take some photos and do a tutorial, as I seem to get asked this a lot.

"It dries overnight on the mask form"
Sorry but can you please clarify? Do you just hand mold the mask form with the clay? I mean, I'm assuming you mold it on a face and then alter it a bit to look how you want it??

Ok, here's how it goes. I essentially make a pancake-shape out of clay and drape it over a plastic face. I press it into place, hollow out the eyes and cut out the general shape with an X-acto knife. Then I sculpt on any extra bits I need. The clay dries overnight and then I take it off the face (mask form) to be sealed and painted.
