Man, it's been awhile huh? Sorry I haven't submitted anything in a long while.Anybody remember Medabots? Or as it's called in Japan, Medarot? Used to watch that show all the time as a kid. I even collected a few of the small little figures too, and I still have them. In fact, I still like the show to this day. I have such great memories from those days.
Anyways, this is one of the characters from the show. This is one of my favorite Medabots, Oceana (or Pure Mermaid in the Japanese version). I really like her design, and the episode she appeared in gave me some good laughs when I was little. Her personality fits with her design. Overall, she's a great character. I wish we could have seen her more in the series.
I colored this with Copic markers and two other markers from another brand (the purple and pink are the colors from that other brand).

Nice pic. I still love medabots to this day. I have all the DVDs and still watch them. I also have all the little figures with interchangeable parts. I even have both versions of the medabots RPG style game for GBA because each version has exclusive medaparts and medals. I wish they had made more female medabots in those figures, but all we had was Femjet. I had an amazing time collecting those figures, like when I three from the same guy in three separate bids on eBay all at once. It was Sharkkan, Acehorn, and Belzelga. He was selling multiples and when I accidentally bid on one he let me change the order. The best part was how he shipped them, all three were fully disassembled and put in a large pill bottle with packing peanuts. I had a ball sorting through the parts and assembling the medabots.
And In the Medabots RPG I always use Oceana as one of my primary bots. In that game you have nine slots for male or female tinpets and can assemble around them. In robattles you use upto three medabots as a team. So I would have Metabee lead with a defender like Megaphant or a radar medabot like Dr. Bockchoy or Jorat (I called him Cheesy). And then once I got a mermaid metal I would name it Oceana, by that point I had fought enough to have gathered all the Oceana parts. The tough part is getting the parts you want. After you win a Robattle the game decides at random what part you get. Even with teams of three you only get one part per battle. Most battles are random but some characters have limited fights. Like you only fight Koji or Erika a certain number of times throughout the game. So I save continuously so if I don't get the part I want, or Heaven forbid, lose. I can just reset and robattle again.
And the show was just amazing. I still think it stands the test of time as one of the best americanized animes there is. Thanks to Youtube I have seen the original japanese versions (without subtitles) and can tell the music is better in the american version and they added a lot of machine sounds when the medabots move and even robot filters over the voice actors for the medabots. I'm also glad it was not dubbed by 4kids since they seemed to be lazy when it came to voice acting and music. Trust me, look up medabots on Youtube, a poster named SpaceMedafighterEx has posted all the dubbed episodes in their original order. I don't know why but Fox skipped a bunch leading up to the world tournament then inserted them later.
Sorry I went on for so long, it's just hard to find fellow fans of Medabots who really seem to appriciate it.
