I'M GLAD SOMEONE APPRECIATES IT when I do art of tiny sims spinoffs from 15 years ago... it's so interesting to me that the spinoffs have their own "canon" and cast of characters that lasted all of what, like 4 years of smaller handheld games and then vanished out of the series just like that.

I really like Giuseppi Mezzoalto and Canonball Coleman.. and Misty Waters. I wonder if they'll ever make households for these characters in a mainline sims game? Even just as downloadable from the gallery.

Yes, they are great characters!! My sister has made some of those characters and uploaded them to the Sims 4 gallery - her username is Terra575 if you ever wanna check it out!

I'm a bit younger than you so I grew up with the DS and Wii games, HMDS, Island of Happiness, Animal Parade, Grand Bazaar.... Tale of Two Towns later as well, but I also really like the Rune Factor spinoffs!

Ooh my sis has played Island of Happiness and HMDS! I'm excited about the new Mineral Town remake coming out, though I don't have a Switch so it's a more vicarious excitement. xD I've never played Rune Factory though!

Rune factory's fun, although a bit less on the farming and more on relationships and the monster hunting mechanic. I liked the fantasy aesthetic for a harvest moon style game.

Ahhh I remember the Ushi no Tane guides. Wouldn't have figured out half the stuff in those games without them. HMDS and DSCute are interesting because you can clearly tell the "bachelors" weren't originally designed to be romanced... and then they threw in the feminine, dashing thief character for prettyboy's sake lol

I had this old friend on ffn who was royally pissed off that Carter was a romance option because, [12 year old voice talking] HE'S OLD AND IT'S GROSS. Griffin I can at least sorta see the appeal even if it's not appealing to ME lol. But I always went with Skye and that was formative and I like pretty boys forever now lol

Hahahahahah. In AWL I always went for Gustafa - not sure who I would pick in DS: Cute. Probably Carter or Griffin, hahahahahah! Carter is such a freak with his highly personal motivation for excavating, hahahahah.

Gustafa was peak "weird but sweet" if I remember right lol. I never talked to Carter too much , what was his motivation?

Carter eventually reveals to you that he believes he is descended from advanced sun-worshipping beings, and he is excavating to discover more about their civilization! That's why sometimes you see him just standing by the waterfall in the sun with his arms raised, trying to absorb its power...

Oh my god Carter lol I never knew that!!! I also never got very far in the mines, it scared me as a kid. I know there was a lot to that game I just never reached back then.
Today I tried to play the Sims 3 fanmade Strangetown remake but I remade 1 sim and got tired, you ever get like ... wanna play sims but sims is exhausting? lol

Yeah, I totally get what you mean! I finally had Alexander Goth graduate university in my Sims 2 game today (I used a cheat to make him graduate early because oh my God it takes SO LONG), and then had him get married. I've been looking forward to having him start out on his own but building his new house just got too tiring, even though I normally love building! Probably since I'm feeling ill. Is the Strangetown remake in Sims 3 an entire custom neighbourhood?

I always give up my sims 2 neighborhoods like half way through uni lol it takes AGES. I know some people can't get enough of that part of the game but it starts to drag on for me. The other day I was really revved up to play Rimworld but by the time I made my characters I didn't want to play anymore.. so it goes.
The sims 3 Strangetown is a custom neighbourhood and includes spinoff characters and locations, it's also really beautiful. The sims themselves make me want to go around giving makeovers to the whole town, though.

Haha, I know what you mean! I find the uni stuff so dull! I finally started using the Semester Tester to graduate my Sims out early because they were falling wayyyyyy behind. That sounds like a cool Sims 3 custom neighbourhood! I don't think I can get those on Mac. I haven't played Sims 3 in quite awhile - it's on my old laptop because the game doesn't work with newer Macs. But I've been playing a lot of Sims 2 lately! I have this desert downtown of Pleasantview called Skirts where all the weirdos live - kind of the Strangetown of my Pleasantview world, hahaha! So I've been playing that a lot. What about you?

I've been struggling to really get into playing any of the sims games recently for some reason, it needs to really strike me. Which is good, because if I wanted to play all the time I'd never get work done lol. I have been using it to design sets for my art from time to time though, just on a completely blank world for lots only.
Love desert weirdos. Recently I played Life is Strange and it's got me in this dark, psychological modern tragedy mood. Rarely ever have I played a video game that EARNED its endings so deliberately. It's like everything was building up to it in the end, very intentional, very well done. I'm really inspired now.

That's so cool, I'm glad that game inspired you! I was playing some Sims 2 lately, did something a little different - built a beach lot but in a temperate climate region, and built a little cabin on the beach where a painter lives. It's a fun vibe. What have you been playing lately?
