Description Akemi Homura, made for Anime Expo 2011. The group I was in won 2nd place!

This costume was such a pain to make. It looks easy until you break it down into individual pieces!

The white shirt is made from a heavyweight stretch poly/cotton. The undershirt, purple collar, and skirt are made from lightweight Kona cotton. I dipped the purple fabric in grey dye to kill the intensity on it. My bows are silk charmeuse, so they flutter in the wind! For the bootpants, I extended the bottom of a legging pattern I had out into "feet", then punched a hole for where my shoe heel comes through. I made a template for the diamonds, and they were airbrushed on the sides by my friend Han.

My shield was made from sintra that I carved out. The raised and rounded parts were done with putty.

My soul gem was made by the awesome Zal... she made them for our entire group! Thanks to her we have the prettiest soul gems ever.

Wig is from MoeMall on eBay. I just had to trim the bangs and side pieces a bit.

Hi! I really like how you did the boot pants for Homura! May I ask what is the fabric and legging pattern that you used for it? Thanks!

Hi there! I used a glossy nylon spandex for the pants - the diamond pattern was airbrushed on. For the pattern I used the Kwik Sew unitard pattern, and just chopped it at the waist and elongated the bottoms to create the feet.
