Description "For generations, his people thought themselves ill treated by fate. Thier neighbors hunted and gathered and claimed large territories to forage in and eventually, his people were boxed into the valley, a relatively small swath of land.
With no other option, his people learned to cultivate the land. It was much more work but as they carefully selected seed for the next cycle, thier yields grew and grew. With surplus, several were able to leave the fields and play with the green ore that turned orange in the campfire and make better tools.
He thinks of his people's history and how they turned a prison into a community. He wears the ochre pigment, from the clay of the river that gives his kin life and he decorates his copper tools. His labor feeds a whole people and he knows he can stride with pride"

Sorry for the bad writting. This is a gift for Andibi
His stories and illustrations of tribal anthro deer have been a great source of inspiration for several artists here, including myself. While I say this is a gift for Andibi, it is really a celebration of the gifts he has given with his words of encouragement and advice. Thank you

Wow, this is really great!  Love the figure, the scene, and the story.  It has a kind of American-Southwest feeling to it, as if your cervine tribe made its home far to the north, where the jungle gives way to a drier land.  I like your narrative of hunter-gatherers turned farmers (and metalworkers) as well as the confidence of this very capable-looking buck.

I really appreciate your kindness in thinking of me and I'm touched by your work and words alike.  This has been a very nice birthday indeed.  Thank you very much!

Im glad you like it. I didn't want to ape your thing too much so I slightly shifted the setting and narrative. I also wanted to incorporate some of what I know about early anthropology, and how early man started agriculture.

Yeah, the biggist differences I could see is the mule deer is usually a bit more grey and whitetail have the stripe on the chin.

A simple farmer dressed up for a festival. That staff is agricultural equipment.
