I wanted to give a picture showing off that evil eye tattoo in her description, but idk what it looks like so I improvised hope that's ok.

OMG, I am so sorry that I wasn't specific about the evil eye. I thought everyone knew what it was. ;

Evil eye is this blue symbol that you've probably seen people wearing (or maybe it's a European/Middle Eastern thing only?)

It's a specific thing that keeps the 'evil eye' from watching you/protects you.

The one you did looks amazing though! And I really, really like the expression on her face and the body language. Livia's got a lot of weight on her shoulders and those set lips and determination + the bowed shoulders is perfect for her. I really love this piece, thank you SO MUCH for it! One of the best bits of art I've received of her. <3333

oooohhhh! Yeah, no I've never seen that before but it is super interesting! Especially with the knowledge of what it's for. Kinda like a legend or folk tale. And I LOVE listening to any new ones that I know nothing about. What is the "Evil Eye" tho? Is there a story behind it, like why is it blue?

...did I ask to many questions? I am sorry if I did.

In the Philippines its mostly all crosses, rosaries, and saint statues/paintings that people used for practically everything. Bad grades? Go talk to that statue. Feel sick? Get some Vicks and put that bible on his head or maybe pray a couple times, that should do it.

Not saying these practices aren't interesting, just that I have been around it my whole life. So some things feel a little mundane to me. (also creepy but that's different)

But gosh, reading how you analyzed my photo like that. I couldn't ask for a better a better comment. I am so glad you picked up on those subtle hints in the photo. I honestly love drawing tough girls, just being more than a happy smiley girl. Like, just giving them dimension in body language and appearance.
So I wanted to draw her in that simple night shirt and probably brooding.
Gosh I am just so happy you like it. I felt really good on how she came out so I am just on cloud 9 from hearing your complements.

It's not too many questions, don't worry! I can't explain everything though because it's not really part of my religion/beliefs, let me find you a good article!

Okay, basically, this is a nice article about it:

broadly.vice.com/en_us/article…

It's the thought that when other people get jealous of you, they can cast the 'evil eye' on you. So to protect themselves, people wear either the khamsa/hamsa (an intricately carved hand) or the blue eye-shaped circle that I linked to! It's actually called a nazar, technically, but most people call it the evil eye. Maybe I'll add an image of it to the ref sheet so people don't get confused.

And ooh, what part of the Philippines? My best friend lives there!Β

IT'S A REALLY GREAT PICTURE, YOU JUST PUT SO MUCH DETAIL INTO IT AND SO MUCH THOUGHT. It shows that you composed it carefully and I am so so happy that you also like tough girls being tough instead of just cheerful. I love pieces with personality that really reflect what a character is like and you NAILED it. Thank you SO MUCH.
