Description I don't post really any of my dark stuff on here. Would you like me too?
The mask she is wearing is a plague doctor mask. It's shaped like a crow because they would put herbs in the "beak." It was believed these herbs may help prevent getting the disease themselves. The goggle like eyes are to keep from looking directly at the patient. Just a little history because personally I find the topic quite fascinating!

I didn't know about the plague doctor mask's significance, and now that I do, it does seem quite intriguing. I wonder, what other curious things happened due to the bubonic plague?

Tell me, I'm very curious. For some reason, tragedies like the black death always seem to be what I find most intriguing.

Alright. Well as you may have guessed I find it pretty fascinating as well.
So since I don't know how much you do know, I'll just summarize my knowledge of it.
The way the bubonic plague went from person to person was actually from fleas on rats. They bit people and soon after, that person had caught the disease. The people called it the Black Death because bodies turned black when they had died and the flesh began to decay. Disturbingly enough, while the person was suffering through the plague, they had to deal with the sensation and smell of their flesh beginning to decay while they were still alive. A sort of hive/rash would spread and blisters would form on top. It was believed that sins, demons, evil spirits, or an angry god caused the plague. Plague doctors wore long robes and bird like masks and leather hats to show their profession. The herbs in the beak were othertimes lavender. Eliminating smells was thought to ensure not catching the disease. The doctors carried canes as well. It usually took about 3-5 days before someone died but it could be less or more.

I knew what you said in the first few sentences, but I never knew about plague doctors. They seem absolutely terrifying.

No kidding. Thinking a doctor is coming to help you, but then this figure clad in a black robe with a hood and leather hat approaches you with its bird like mask. Horrifying. Not to mention basically just poking and prodding you with a cane.

True that, I'm so happy I was't born in medieval times.
