Love smiles and leans in over the girl, letting one long finger run along the curve of her jaw. Her eyes are large and innocent, her features so delicate she looks like a porcelain doll even in the sharp, unforgiving light that surrounds them.

"Do you think they love you?" he whispers, observing the perfect shape of her eyebrows and the way her lower lip trembles. "Do you think anyone has ever loved you?"

"Of course"; she whispers back, her voice shaking with emotion. "Why would they not? I am beautiful."

"You have no personality."

"I am nice to everyone."

"As I said, you have no personality. No opinion."

"I do! I like cute things and strawberries and I'm always caring for those that needs it despite feeling so lonely because no one understands me and I really don't like rude people though I think-"

Love leans in closer and she shuts her eyes for a moment, eyelashes so long and thick they rest against her cheek. When she opens them again, wondering why he hasn't kissed her, he has a new look in his violet eyes.

"Do you think I am beautiful?" he asks her, his voice soft. She looks at him – his cheeks are sunken in, his upper lip is not as full as it could've been, his nose is a little too long, his black curls hang down as if they haven't been washed in a while. Even the yellow ribbon tying it back looks stained and she sees now that his clothes seem old, worn out.

"Yes, Love, I do."

"And yet I am not perfect. I have flaws, I'm arrogant, I'm nosy. I rarely give people what they want the moment they want it, I'm inconsiderate and selfish at times. This makes me, for some reason, more human than you. Do you think you have flaws, my dear?"

She looks at him in confusion. "I am unique."

"You're boring." He lights a cigarette. She opens her mouth-

-and disappears. Love pokes the remaining silver dust with the toe of his sneaker.

"Goodbye, Mary Sue."
