Description
This type of storm is kind of like a winter cyclone. The nasty buggers come up the east coast from the south, picking up moisture from the Atlantic, and rotate in such a way with the centers over the ocean, that the prevailing winds are always from the Northeast. Unfortunately, this storm combined with warm temps above freezing to create a wet, heavy snow that broke branches and downed power lines. This was shot during the first half of the storm and just after we lost power. We didn't get power back until yesterday evening. Sucks not having power to run water. Luckily I had enough potable water on hand for my partner and I to make tea and coffee, and for the cats and the chickens. Also, we have two wood stoves that provide both heat and a surface to cook on.
