That's quite the same for me. Generally, I start drawing someone, and then, looking at the person I drew, I say to myself "I imagine her as a warrior/goddess/magician" and then, I start imagining the story

I can do it that way - or, what is more often, I know their story, so to speak - or bits of it - and I have this notion "she's dark haired, slender, wears a hell of a lot of black and purple, and has black eyes." Then I get drawing, and I discover the hook nose, the prominent eyebrows, the strong chin - but lack of cheekbones - etc...
It's interesting to start thinking exactly how and why one works...

Good colors and her eyes too. makes you wonder what is she looking at that's way off the picture. some of the pencil lines come out too hard but oder then that nice work I love it.
