Description
Always a promising fighter (in this alternate-Star Wars-dubiousverse), Stephy had endured much to become an apprentice Sith. So when she heard that her clone-sister had been brutally murdered by a cowardly rebel agent, Darth Stephy swore vengeance. And now, just across the room from her stood the murdering rebel whore, a blue lightsabre in each hand. Stephy fired up her blood-red weapon, smiling softly at the catsuit-clad girl.Another SW-inspired piece with as this galaxy's most frightening Sith apprentice! You thought you knew Stephy? Think again!
Whose fault is all this? It's this guy: whose dark Star Wars dreams are guiding this, like some kind of distant, evil Emperor.Ā

I've never figured out how to get the bloom settings to work properly, perhaps you can give me some guidance? What exactly did you do to get the bloom for the lightsaber? Looks great, in fact the whole render.

Whew! I had a hell of a lot of trouble, and used a few different lightsabres in earlier tries.Ā
I ended up cheating when I got the mattymanx sabres; he's got about 8 different bloom settings, all of which work beautifully.

I've tried them, I can't figure them out. I'm not sure what I've been doing wrong with the blades so I've been using other 3-layer blades and trying to figure out how to set those up to look good. I can't figure out what settings I'm messing up.

Hrm, I am doing something wrong: maybe material settings: I tried both of Matty's material settings and got no bloom. I used the iRay DAZ Ubber Emissive and then reworked those to Matty's colors = no bloom. I checked and rechecked that I was matching your settings so I'm not sure what was going wrong. Hm, switched the Luminance Units in Surfaces to watts and was getting someplace with the green saber, but couldn't get a blue saber to work right. I also had to switch the Diffuse and Emissive settings on the green saber or the core would be green and the ambient glow was nearly white.
Ok, still puttering: figured out that if I changed the Luminous Efficacy to 150 on the blue saber it was working better. Hmmmmmm.

In my latest pic you can see that the green and red sabre act quite differently...it seems to be a bit of a dice-roll. More research needed.

Yeah I and a friend played around trying to figure some stuff out with the surface settings. Diffuse can be black or have just the slightest hint of the blade color. Emission color depends on what color you want the blade: Emission Temp should be around 6500; Luminance at around 8k; Luminance Units should be kcd/m^2. With those settings the main thing you need to adjust is the Emission Color until you get the blade color you want. That's pretty much the settings I used here:
