--------------------------------------------------------------------------

name: Xi Le Ling 喜乐凌
gender: female
age: fifteen
height: 143cm
weight: 35kg
personality: Le Ling is a cheerful, lively, often childishly naive young girl. Almost entirelly selfless, she always thinks of everyone else's needs instead of her own and always tries her best to please everyone around her. On the downside, this leads her to be often taken advantage of or finds her pushed into unfavourable, for her, situations. Le Ling is also very easy to cry but she will very rarely mourn her own losses or bad luck, more often crying for everyone else around her instead.
history:
Born as the first and only child to a well-off, rather prestigious family, Le-Ling grew up surrounded with as much care as it was possible for a child her age to receive. The greater part of her childhood was spent with her mother, mostly undisturbed at the house by the lakeside her great-grandfather had built. Her father was often out, overseeing all the family businesses, ever watchful. Le Ling couldn’t really understand what exactly it was that her father was doing, but such things matter little to children. When her father returned home things would get a little livelier, just for a little while. While her reality was peaceful, it allowed little room for creativity aside from the mandatory daily activities.

At that time, Le Ling had very few friends; most of them being the children of relatives that visited once in a blue moon. As her health was rather fragile, her mother rarely permitted her to go outside; she would always escort Le Ling wherever she went to make sure she was alright and to take care of her every need whenever such a situation arose. Her mother was more than just her parent though. She was Le Ling's guardian, her guiding star, her teacher in every aspect of her life. She was the one who taught Le Ling to be humble and kind, to put the happiness of others before her and she was also the one to teach her the art of tea. To Le Ling, the mere prospect of having an essence seemed like the greatest blessing that she could receive. No matter how it ended up looking or its personality… it could be her friend, a person with whom she could spend time and play without being reprimanded by her mother for being around them. Of course, she would still have to wait for her thirteenth year to meet them but the prospect filled her with hope. Until then. she had to be patient and work on her skills.

The first tragedy in Le Ling’s young life was the passing of her father, occuring only months away from the appointed date of her tea ceremony. It was a sad event, and the realization that the people in her life were leaving made it all the worse for her. Their house, filled to the brim with all sorts of relatives coming to offer their condolences did little to make her mood any better. There were so many people that meant little to her and to whom her mother and herself meant little; yet they were there, almost pretending to be sad when they were indifferent. She didn’t know what it was or why it was that way and so she waited it out, until things started settling back to the quiet, sleepy way they had always been and tried all the harder.

The fateful day finally arrived. Although Le Ling had spent her entire childhood preparing for that moment, even though she longed to meet her essence so very much, she was nervous just at the thought of having to sit there and prepare a perfect sample of her tea while being watched by so many people; the people that weren’t there for her, but for the family name. The people that only cared about the fact that she had come of age. No doubt most of them had jealous children also. As she stood there, amidst the crowd, terrified and trying to concentrate intensely, she was reaching her limit. But she couldn’t break, she couldn’t allow it to herself… for her mother if not for herself and for her dream, her wish, her future…

She poured all of that into that single cup; her emotions, fears, hopes and aspirations and prayed with all her heart that she would not fail. And her prayer was answered, her tea taking the form of a small orb with a flowering tea ball within. She didn’t have enough time to call for her essence as the stress finally took its toll on her. As relief filled her and she found herself collapsing where she was standing. She awoke later that evening back in the house with her mother watching over her worried, but she was the happiest she had ever been in her life. Everything was bound to get better, it just had to; and to her relief, it did… if only for a little while.

Everything appeared to settle down, the debris was clearing up. Le Ling was ever grateful to have been gifted an essence as valiant and pleasant as Ye Lin, who she quickly nicknamed Linlin, and was happy just getting to know him a little at a time, spending her days with him. Then disaster knocked on her door for the second time. It was almost as if fate had chosen to torture her for some reason she couldn’t understand, taking away the people she loved one at a time. This instance it was her mother and the struggles that followed her death were only the beginning.

It wasn’t just the loneliness now, she had also to fight for the right to stay at the house, to keep what was hers, to keep her relatives from stripping her bare from all the things her father had left behind. The struggles through which she emerged from only thanks to Ye Lin’s help and guidance as well as her own, small but strong will. In the end, an agreement was reached, considering she was a Royal and she had an Essence to watch her over. She would be allowed to keep what was hers and she would still stay at her home under the condition that once a month she would be visited by her aunts to make sure she was alright and everything was kept in order so their family name wasn’t disgraced. Determined to live up to their expectations, Le Ling agreed.

At first it was a little hard, being all alone while managing everything, but eventually, and with Ye Lin’s help, Le Ling pulled through and learned to believe in herself and stand on her own two feet. In essence, Ye Lin became somewhat of a lifeline for her; he was the one person who always watched over her and protected her, who was there for her no matter what happened and promised to always be there. Naturally, Le Ling grew to be incredibly fond of him, clinging on to him for all the things she had lost and all those she wanted to keep. As a result she always worries about what he thinks of everything she does and often wonders if she’s being a burden despite Ye Lin’s repeated attempts to convince her that she’s fine just the way she is.
