Description Mia the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. (NSDTR) She's 6 years old, and just an all around gorgeous dog. She's incredibly ball and Frisbee driven, which makes it easier for training.

You guys may think its weird, but this girl is doing drive training to start schutzhund training soon. She competes in agility and Frisbee trials, and she's an all round hunting dog (retrieves birds and also points). She isn't part of my dad's breeding program (he breeds working bred tollers) but is more than a really really good pet.

We also started narcotics detection training two weeks ago, which is going great! I use a scent ball because its easier for me to train her with it.

Here we see her doing what she does best, retrieving a ball.
** She's also a really shy dog so I use positive reinforcement training on her.

Wow, a toller doing schutzhund? I would love to see that! All we have around here doing schutzhund are german shepherds and dobermans haha.

Yup! haha, its really not common, but other non-schutzhund breeds do it. My Siberian husky Keesha (found in my gallery) was training for schutzhund too

Well a Siberian Husky just seems more likely to do it than a toller to me XD

Haha odd, it just seems like huskies would be more likely than tollers XD

That's true, since tollers are known to be like small Golden retrievers and don't have the bite for it, lol. I dunno, maybe it's because these people liked that tollers can settle down after a day of work, Sibes, not so much xD

Well shepherds hardly settle down after schutzhund, and I know a number of tollers that are far more neurotic than sibes.

Its an exception really, but she does have a lot of drive so I'm sure it will work. She's really adorable and obedient, just really shy when it comes to strangers.
