Didn't one have a bit of a mane ?

Noo! It's an easy choice for me. Cute white lions cubs who I've seen twice already that are super cute playful and seem to recognise me. OR. A very angry leopard with big sharp teeth.

Which to choose?

*checks other photos* ooh, yup Really obvious now you pointed it out, but I didn't notice

Mrs Lion didn't seem as interested in me this time. She only walked at me once by the glass. Speaking of which, the glass seemed more evil this time. More visible distortions than I remembered

On leopards, obviously not *all* of them. I'd leave a certain African one well alone, although she did seem a little less angry these days. I'll put up a close up of her teeth later if anyone's interested Personally I'm torn between snow and persian leopards...

At least they came out for you! EVERY time I've been the cubs have been locked away in that smaller enclosure which you can't photograph

I never really have a problem with the glass there.. How close do you get?

Do you stay long while there? I tend to find they get moved around sometimes during the day.

On the glass, generally I try to get as close as possible to block reflections. It was mostly the tiger enclosure glass that seemed most prone to distortion, and on that one I was running around more.

I stay from 12 till closing. But I asked one of the keepers I was speaking too and she said they shouldn't be locked inside and she didn't know why they where..

I usually make my camera touch the glass then sometimes put my hand at the end if it's at an angle to block reflection. Hmm Tigers, mine usually go a bit blue through their glass.

Hmm... thinking back, I think the worst distorted shots were when I was a bit further back from the glass. I did that as I was still running around for position Only for short range (15-85) do I regularly get right up to the glass.

I always get as close to the glass as possible, that's the best way to remove reflections. Talking of reflection I tried your polariser out a bit at paradise! Didn't always work, but was able to use it on the lynx nicely Would have tried it on Harry if he woke up. Billy wasn't around too much to try it on either. Lynxy was about lots though

Yay for polariser. I'm still impressed you had the patience to use it with a rotating front lens So now we get the slow drip feeding of pic posts?

It's easy, I focus then move the filter Kind of annoyed me how the handle stuck out because it meant my lens hood thing wont go on or off
Haha yep! You've had 2 so far, that's pretty fast for me Add another cheetah in the next few days

OH, I booked a day to WHF too!! For 31st May (bank holiday) Pretty excited about it

It's a bit further than I can get to easily in one day, so I'd stay overnight, so add planning, costs, it'll be school half term as well I think... not a good time for me

You wont need it there at least, all wire fences when I was there apart form a little bit of the puma enclosure.

Alannah-Hawker In reply to SnowPoring [2010-05-20 00:05:18 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I guess.. I don't think it is half term though? I'm not sure though.

Oh, so the pumas have some glass, hmm

Around here half term is on the bank holiday week, so those weekends will suck for travel.

At the puma enclosure you're directed to a fenced region while erm... forgot her name jumps to catch food. I was one of the last in so I got a bad spot. The glass bit is round quite a bit away from that and for other visitors who are not allowed up to the fence.
