    “Wow, this is amazing Derek! What‘s the occasion?”, I said. “Huh? Oh nothing. Just thought it would be nice to go out today that’s all.”, Derek said. What’s wrong with Derek? He seems so anxious. “Oh, that’s sweet!”, I said.
    After a few minutes of silence Derek finally spoke. “Well, Ally I have to tell you something." This should explain things. “I’m leaving.” WHAT? “WHAT? Why? Where? When?”, I exclaimed. “I got a job in California and my flight leaves at 5:00 PM tonight. I’m so sorry I didn’t tell you sooner, I would always wimp out when I tried.” I can’t believe this is happening. “Will you visit me when I leave?”, Derek asked. “Of course I will. When was it? 5:00? Okay that’s in 4 hours. I’ll make it. I promise.”, I said. “Really? Thank you!! I got to leave now. I have to finish packing, but I’ll see you in 4 hours, okay?”, he said. “Okay..”, I said, barely able to breathe. He kissed me then left.
    Once I saw he left I started crying. Come on you fool. Stop crying already. You’ll still get to talk to him! I picked myself up, walked home, and went to sleep.

    *3 and a half hours later*

    OH MY GOSH! It’s almost time for Derek’s flight! I have to hurry! I took a quick shower and started changing. When I was about to leave I noticed the clock. No! It’s 5:15 already! His flight must have left! How could I have let this happen? I started crying when I heard a knock on the door.
    I pulled myself together as I walked to the door. Who would be here now? I opened the door and let out a squeal when I saw who it was. It was Derek! “I couldn’t leave you. I could never leave you.”, he told me. “Oh my gosh! I’m so happy you stayed!”, I cried out. “I promise you. I will never think of leaving you again. And I’ve got something to prove that.”, he calmly said. I wonder what it is.
    I was never prepared for what came next.
    He pulled a ring out of his pocket and told me the words I’ve always wanted to hear. He got down on one knee and said, “Ally Jae Corale. Will you marry me?”. When he said those words, I thought I might faint, but instead I said, “Yes! Of course I will Derek! Come here!”.
    That was ten years ago and we’ve been happy ever since. I’ll never forget that amazing day. ♥
