The gathering in Imladris from J.R.R.Tolkien's magnum opus, The Lord of the Rings.

While Peter Jackson's interpretation of Tolkien's tale remains an impressive feat and has played a part in my enthusiasm for the great author's work, this rendition is merely my own interpretation of the event.

I did my best to follow the description of the master sub-creator in his writing and have, I think, stayed true to what Tolkien wanted. Although Jackson's take on the episode is much larger in scale (some twenty-something members), "Tollers" only mentions fourteen or fifteen being present.

Although Tolkien was inspired by the mountains of Switzerland for the location of Rivendell, I took some creative liberties in the formation of my own sketch. Being an American, I searched for somewhere a little closer to home and found that the Rockies in Wyoming and Colorado have a similar geological makeup to what "Ronald" envisioned. I believe that it stays true to what the author intended while allowing the illustrator to re-discover Middle-earth in his own country.
