makes me think of opportunity vs our ideas of what we want for ourselves, what society/wants/expects/needs of us

Very nice narrative.
The story of Icarus has always been one with a moral to the story. I think it has a great deal to do with jealousy and the blindness it can cause in people.

I really like this!
To me this speaks about the consequences of achieving something....
After spending a life time running after something, you realise that you can never get it... so you end up falling behind and trying to accept the fact that you can't run that fast and that you will have to settle where you are. (I don't know if I made any sense.... in my head it did..)

to me, this is beautiful and sad. i wouldn't change a thing. you did an excellent job with imagery in sush a short space.
i know the mythological reference, but to me the poem could be a warning against dreaming too big. the phrase i was never a bird, i would never fly. i should have listened. is heartbreaking. icarus did fly, he did succeed, but like the rest of us so often do he ran too fast and tripped over his own feet.

many thanks!! exactly, he reached for the stars, or rather, the sun, and his wings melted and fell apart, it was human error and greed that was the downfall of him.
