Description My wife suggested I upload this. I painted this in Photoshop 5.5 and used 2 photos of Stalagmites and stalactites from a cave. IT made a very disturbingly real looking skin texture. However...I am not sure why he's smiling....

EDIT: says I need to suggest that you view this full size. Honestly, I figured you guys always did

Really, really scary, already thumbnailed. Then make it fullview and it's just "EW!"... I love the texture of the skin, looks so gory...

Awesome! I think you're the 2nd person to state that full view brings out the best in the picture. I guess I take for granted that everyone uses full view

if only people took the time to study the artwork they would see the full beauty of the piece.

Agreed. So much nowdays is that you have to blast thier senses full-on and 'spell-it-out' for the audience. Subtle nuance is lost on the new generation methinks

Wow! I bet I can guess why he's smiling. Look at the red on his lips -- he's full!

Not only does the texture look like skin, but it also looks like his face is emerging from a rock wall - like he's made of living skin-rock.

I really like his one, burningly intense eye. Wicked, man, wicked!

Thank you The power of cave walls Actually I have an old book from 1980 called Translvania that had bizzare monsterous paintings of demon spirits. One was of an evil looking face coming out of wood grain. That was kinda my inspiration for this

Nice, good job man. I don't really see the stalactites in that but however you did it, it looks awesome! And it's kinda twisted the way he's smiling. Me like . Keep up the good work.

Thank you. I am glad someone likes the whole 'texture' painting technique. I have been collecting textures for years. I use'em all the time. I thought about making a tut for using textures...but I dunno...

BTW: I like Harry Potter too. I hope they do The Order of the Pheonix some justice! That is one of my favorites so far

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LizetM In reply to Snigom [2007-01-25 01:12:32 +0000 UTC]

I think that you should make a tutorial about textures, 'cuz I'm sure many people want to know how you use them in the wondeful stuff that you make.

OotP is my favorite book, so if WB gets it wrong, I will be very, very upset.

Snigom In reply to LizetM [2007-01-25 03:23:06 +0000 UTC]

Ok. I think that's fair enough. Perhaps I'll add how I go about selecting or acquiring good textures. However, I have a mountain of other tuts to do So this'll be added to that request list thanks!

holy sh*t....dude you have to edit this and put "FULL VIEW PLEASE"

you do not get the full affect until you look at the enlarged version. i had a whole paragraph written up commenting on the small version and then i enlarged. man. this is amazing.sick comes to mind and i mean that in a good way.

looks all slimy ,man incredible. one of my favorites you have done!

Snigom In reply to twistedmentality [2007-01-25 00:10:19 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I didn't know you could force people to view full screen. I try to take into account that I have a high-res Widescreen LCD monitor. So I allow the small one to be first...just for convineince.

I'm glad you like it.
