This is one of a pair of handmade wooden covered Coptic bound journals inspired by the Orkney Islands for the marvellous LordLJCornellPhotos . Go and check out his gallery to see some marvellous photos of the Orkney Islands and more.

The first is inspired by the Neolithic stone ring "The Ring of Brodgar".

The stones were individually cut out with a scroll saw to give the cover a 3D effect. I added some extra vibrant colours to the sunset to represent the spirituality of the place.

The second cover is inspired by the Blaeu - Atlas of Scotland 1654 - ORCADVM ET SCHETLANDIÆ - Orkney and Shetland. The map is pyrographed (burned) into the wood.
