Regular side: You know when people draw from this episode it's usually centered around Benson but people fail to notice how uncharacteristic Pops it too!
I mean he was not only being bossy but threatened to fire people! Seeing a bit of fan art with him taking charge is a breath of fresh air.

Yes, the episode inspired a lot of interesting Benson art. But I also would like to see more art of Pops. He was very interesting in the episode, and we got to see new sides of him.
Actually, Pops is a very under-drawn character in general..

I sometimes wonder if the writers intentionally don't put characters in scenes together because of the fandom. For example, how much was the "Rigby won't hug Mordecai" episode influenced by the "morby" fandom?
It's something I've really wanted to ask a writer of the show (a few have Tumblrs and Formsprings) but I've yet to find the courage to even ask anonymously. Oops.

I love that ep too. looks Benson centered, but really has great Pops development. who knew he could take charge of the park when he felt led to? and hearing Pops say "You're fired!" in his gentle voice makes me crack up

I especially loved how Pops had to keep reminding everyone that he's *technically* in charge of the park when his father's not around. As if no one would believe that someone so gentle could have a position of authority.

oh yeah, that! I love that scene! I especially loved when I played the scene again for my friend Caleb and said "now imagine the same person is voicing Pops and Benson, cause that is exactly what's happening" he just stared at the screen in amazement, so I added "did I blow your mind?"
yeah, I wonder if Sam Marin is talented enough to switch from Pops to Benson and back so quickly, cause if so I would LOVE to see him do that live
I especially love it when Benson simply told Pops where he lost his toy captain army figurine, so shows in one line that these two have a history so long that Benson knows Pops so well

I know that on The Simpsons, Smithers and Mr. Burns also share a voice actor, it's so amusing to watch him switch between the two
Oh my, the toy captain line was a deligh to hear, yes! I also love the way Pops says "So we understand each other?" hahaha, it felt very sweet.

Oh gosh--I know!! Benson would rather explode than go against what Pops told him. I love the scene when he's floating and he's still trying to surpress his anger. Just showing how dedicated he is. Awwww.
