XNShell is also awesome, it allows to right click any photo file of any kind and convert or resize it to any other format, and that includes batch jobs. It's by the guys who made XNView and Sagethumbs (?) which is also awesome..... anyways, XNShell is something you install, but it's worth it. It's also supposed to help display thumbnails.
