Description

Reworked as the original was a shiny mess

Fireball XL5 leaves Earth orbit

The first episode of Fireball XL5 was screened in October 1962 totaling 39 episodes all in black and white. This was the 5th of Gerry Anderson's productions and the third to use his Supermarionation technique.

Fireball XL5 modeled in Modo with a lot of Photoshop post work to try and hide a real bad render job.
Background from my own archive and I have no idea where it originates from so profound apologizes if it belongs to you.

Back in the days before George Lucas' Star Wars gave us a "used" universe (Luke Skywalker's landspeeder, the Millennium Falcon and Mos Eisley spaceport) everything was new, and, yes, shiny. Space heroes then were strong, brave, and enjoyed access to top-of-the-line, state-of-the-art gear, so it was supposed to be shiny, gol-durn it!

Beautiful render, and a wonderful pic. Thanks for posting!

It was a good series, but I prefer Super Car.  Always wanted one.

Nicely done. Watched "Fireball XL-5" when I was a kid in the mid-'60's.

That would sound about right. My son's phone has 10 times the computing power than they used to get to the moon
frightening stuff.  About Gerry Anderson though, Watch out for a DVD of the 'Dick Spanner' series there is an interview
at the end of the show with him and it's fantastic his archive is a treasure trove.

Nurse says it's time for my medicine !!!!

I really need to start doing more modeling and finishing them. This was started back in 2012
