Description Rooster, specifically. But chicken just sounds better.

This image just popped into my head one afternoon,
so I sketched it out. This is the expression chickens
make when they're going to cause havok. I've seen it many a time before. Chickens are malicious
creatures, you know.

Awww, how cute. I love crazed chickens, but that's only because I have billions of them. Either way it's an awesome picture, I should show it to my baby chicks so they know what they need to look like when there older lol.

LOL so true! My chickens are evil.....they have that scary stare. But one of my hens, the head chicken, (we have four chickens), likes to sit on my lap while I stroke her like a cat. It's funny

I've never had to clip wings. (Which sounds like a very dangerous job indeed,)
Just clean their pen. Yuck.

Lol I know, ours free range most of the time in our backyard, but my dad filled their pen with cat litter instead of dirt.(hey, it hasnt killed them yet! I thought it would) It dries up the chicken poop, and we clean it like a giant litterbox, pooper scooper and everything! Plus, the cat litter soaks up the chicken-smell

Sludgee In reply to Fawnawnawn [2008-08-31 03:30:05 +0000 UTC]

That's cool, I hadn't thought of that.
Though, my chickens are a bit on the dumb side and would probably eat litter. Ours are free range too, which is why we only have five now.
The owls keep eating them.

Fawnawnawn In reply to Sludgee [2008-08-31 05:04:27 +0000 UTC]

Lol same here. If they spill their food from the feeder, they start eating the litter. But it seems to have no adverse effects, so whatever they can be stupid if they want. Ours have a coop inside a roofed pen, and we leave the door open in the day so they can go in and out. At night, they go back to their pen and go up the ramp into the coop. I go out every night and fasten it closed, and then they are fine and don't get eaten. We have hawks who have tried to get the chickens, but near the coop there is a lot of low, thick foliage that they can run under.(They stay pretty near the coop all day)
We haven't had any die yet, but we have had to get rid of one because it was a rooster. It started crowing, and we're like, ohcrap. (We don't want baby chicks)

Awwwww, poor chickies! Im glad I dont have any owls in the yard! Our neighbors have chickens too, and their flock has been reduced to one because of a crtain resident raccoon.......blah.

Sludgee In reply to Fawnawnawn [2008-08-31 06:39:01 +0000 UTC]

We have a coop too. But the only ones who sleep in it are the ducks. (They'll chase you away from their house too, crazy things XD. )
The chickens sleep in the trees, where the owls are.

As of today, I have to agree with you. I went out with some chicken scratch in a cup, and......one of the chickens tried to attack me lol. It was sitting on my shoulder like a parrot while eating from the cup, and it jumped onto my head and started clawing my hair with its talons. OUCH.

Fawnawnawn In reply to Sludgee [2008-09-01 05:50:49 +0000 UTC]

they are, and they're just plain ugly.....but they are still awesome lol.

It doesnt help that we gave them stupid names, one is Dixie Fry Chicken(aka Dixie), one is Tyson, one is Rambo(lol), and one is molly. used to have one named debbie, but debbie turned out to be a dude, so we had to give it back to the feed store.

We had a rooster named Lucy once.
He was a bit of a nutjob.

I think we also had a hen named Cereal once too.

I find chickens to be pretty, in their own way. But then, the same goes
for vultures . . .

apparently chickens commonly have transgender names.

cereal? that's the best. name. ever. lol.

when I was little, my fav animal in the whole world was a turkey vulture. ugly, ugly things, but at the time they were so cool lookin. i think chickens are pretty too, ecept when they give you that evil look like in this picture......scariness.

I was very young and the egg that I tried to hatch was from our fridge lol

Sludgee In reply to Fir3Chi3f [2008-05-21 22:56:57 +0000 UTC]

My younger brother did. Which is probably the only reason
I didn't, having a good example of what happens . . .

He took an egg from my grandparent's chickens when he was
five. Built a nest out of an orange tarp, and ended up with an
equally orange mess all over his shirt.

Great drawing though, I adore the coloring, expression and texture!
