i just came back to da after like a year, was going to top off my membership, saw the changes and am just about ready to deactivate xD like it barely affects me because i havent used da in a year, i just feel bad for all the other folks who use da that have to put up with their horrible choices? like is it a joke? making horrible design changes then trying to yank even more money from people? da is going downhill and fading out because more alternatives are popping up and their reaction is to double premium prices and make unsightly design changes to the site? jeez

Why does this not surprise me in the slightest. OH right because DA are slowly becoming more and more shitty with how they run the place especially since that whole explosion of anger over that awful more or less support of art theft.

(Anyways, I have a lot to say about this matter here. Sorry for the length!)
I think the Premium Membership was just fine; speaking of (I think) three months for $8. That was such a bargain! Many other people could think likewise, and buy even longer periods for $11. But now, dA apparently has lost its demand for CORE because three months is worth $6 dollars more than the original. $6 could've bought you about two months in the old Premium Membership.
And if you think about it, all you could've done with Premium Membership was make your profile look good (what I use it for), but there were more features to remove ads, Β or toggle more deviations to show in a gallery (and some I'm probably missing). Some of the features could be nullified because I have ad-block that already removes ads for free until ad-block wants you to pay. With a few features, this is all what Premium Membership had to offer, but (I heard about) CORE having less features to offer would also decrease CORE's worth. It is wrong that CORE is worth $50 annually even either if they had less features to offer, or the same as Premium Membership. I think I remember a year of Premium Membership was like $24.
And lastly, I think the orange logo is nasty. Artistically, red is the opposite of green, and orange is closer to red, so orange and green kinda pop out at you in contrast. dA's theme is known for its greens, greys, and whites. Where does orange ever come in, ever? What happened to that sand-green astriek for PM, and the equal sign for the beta testers?
(And on another matter, I still find the orange border around recent deviations from deviants or groups in your watch is awful.)
Altogether, CORE's gotta go.
