This is a collaboration between myself and ~c0mplex . He sent me this beautiful render and I did the rest from there. This is a little tiny bit of a different style for me seeing as I didn't blur it or anything at the end.
It took about 3-4 hours on my part in photoshop CS and a good 30 to 40 minutes on the render in 3d Studios Max 6.

Glad to see something from you.
As you noted, it's a little different from your usual, yet you pulled it off nicely. The brushing if a little too intense at some areas is quite nice, and the rings around the render are nice. But it would've been better if you gave them a prespective and had them 'orbit' the render.

Render's nice, really like how it's looking a little broken and all. Very different style from you this time xDD, not sure which one's better, ut looks really nice. like how it's a little grundgy, not sure about the fractal looking part though :\ try some cloudy brushing, sometimes adds more depth and texture to the brushing. overall it looks really nice

You guys certainly did a great job on this one. The metallic pallette that you've used is swish and works with the colour of the round thing. Some crit though: the render looks a bit tired towards the edges of the picture, whilst the central bit is class. I think the chaos style bit in the middle works, but theres a bit of the render thats outta place- the flat bit that comes out near the circle; it breaks it up too much. I think that the brushing is good overall, and its a nice composition. Its good work!
