Description Behold! My very first submission to dA after being on it for 2 years!! *Applause*

This is the demon-slaying sword, Kurikara, used by Okumura Rin, from Ao no Exorcist.

The entire thing is made of wood(balsa for the sword body, and MDF for the tsuba). I had some great inspirations and learning from all the sword tutorials found on dA. They were really helpful; I just wish I had the skills and equipment at my disposal xD Great thanks to a friend for helping me make the sheath.

I was going to use craft foam for the silver decorations on the sheath, but decided that it was too troublesome; so I went with just painting instead. Will I "fix" it in the future? Maaaaybe

Special thanks to for the gold spray-paint and that thingy at the end of the handle *forgot what it's called xD*

D: wow a great sword you've made there! Is the entire thing, including the blade, made of balsa?? O_O
and I know this is a stupid question but what's a tsuba, and what's MDF? XD

Sorry for taking so long to reply Orz
Yes, it's mostly made of balsa; mainly the body part of the sword.
Tsuba = sword guard. The part that is perpendicular to the direction of the sword.
MDF = medium-density fiberboard. I used it because its size and thickness give me an easy task in making/modifying the tsuba

Thank you for the compliment~ Unfortunately, I don't take commissions, as I make props for fun xD Sorry that I can't make one for you Orz

As for how to make this, this is just like an ordinary katana, with slight variation in the tsuba. You can check out 's tutorials on sword-making I hope this helps~ Good luck to your Rin cosplay xD
