Description:
Star Fox and Star Wolf, the space mercenary teams, were at each other's throats for an unknown result, resulting in an open space fight with each other, this time at the huge cloud of space debris orbitting around Earth, with concentrated piles clouding the view of North America to be precise. More proactive members of two teams in this fight (Fox McCloud and Falco Lombardi of Star Fox, and Wolf O'Donnell and Panther Caroso of Star Fox) were engaging a bit closer to each other in an increasingly dense cloud of space debris, when a rogue rocket shot from California into a large defunct space station, aptly named "Envisat", right in the middle of the said cloud. As Envisat exploded, its largest debris caught the four fighters as it began falling down straight into the Eastern Pacific Ocean. Two days later after the crash of the large debris, the four pilots had emerged from the sea and ended up at the docks in Santo Tomas, California.
Being alone and awashed in a dimly lit part of the docks, mixed reactions among the four ensued, with Falco and Wolf engaging in a quarrel over which team was to blame for that accident, Panther calmly sitting down and wondering what happened to his crush Krystal (despite her being in his rival team), and Fox observing the environment before deciding to explore around the docks. Panther noticed and, wanting nothing of the other two's petty fight, decisively joined Fox on his adventure, despite the latter's discomfort, mostly due to the former's tendency to brag about why Krystal (the blue vixen) should still go with him instead of her current boyfriend Fox. Hoping to find regular dock workers, Fox and Panther had instead found the dozen Cascadian radicals (called the Double Dougs) stealling firearms from dead Armenian mobsters, who were supposed to obtain AK-47s, Lebedevs and Tokarevs smuggled from Russia. The Double Dougs noticed the two pilots and, tasked to leave no witnesses at the end of their operation, immediately began blazing guns at the two, forcing them to run away. The two then got caught by several surviving Armenian mobsters, but after inspecting the pilots' more advanced rifles, the mobsters persuaded them to stop the Double Dougs who could use the smuggled guns to terrorize the city. As Fox and Panther and the Armenian mobsters returned fire to the Double Dougs, Falco and Wolf had heard the commotion and began looking for their fellow pilots. The gun fight continued for half a minute until the police arrived, and with a dozen of casualties counted, all surviving parties involved were arrested, including the four pilots.
In the next morning, the four pilots were released on bail demanded by Christopher North, the black-and-brown dog, accompanied Peppy Hare, another member of the Star Fox. With both space mercenary teams already recognized worldwide, Chris justified their release to the press and the police, that the four pilots had just recovered from the crash into the sea and then unknowingly got caught in a crossfire between two criminal gangs while looking for help. However, at this point, none of two teams were allowed to leave the city until the criminal investigation was complete, and that could take months. To kill that time, Chris suggested the teams to join the MALAKAS Project in hopes of enhancing their skills, as well as fulfilling their personal goals. The rest of the two teams declined, but the four specific pilots were eager to join, albeit for different reasons. Fox thought of improving himself as the leader as well as becoming a one-man army, Falco wished to outgrow and outskill his rival Fox (who might playfully agree to do him the same), Wolf desiring to lead the most powerful team of space mercenaries, and Panther simply wanting to become more attractive and more irresistible to Krystal than Fox. As it was settled, the four pilots prepared to leave for the mountain base (just one mile away from the city) for one week, but not without spending their time with their friends, though Wolf (begrudgingly) and Panther (willingly) did so more with Star Fox, due to their comrades Leon Powalski and Pigma Dengar committing petty crimes by themselves around the city.
Once arrived in Mt. Tingganda Military Base, despite their past experience, the four pilots somehow had a rough start. At first, they would be altogether assisted by an instructor named Laylah Al-Naquin (the Muslim rabbit girl), but then she also allowed Fox to lead the other three whenever she was not around, for she attended Islamic sermons every Friday and hosted activities for Muslim recruits every Wednesday. In response, Wolf started complaining, which got himself in a fight with Falco who rushed to Fox's defense. While Fox tried to cut off the fight in vain, Laylah flicked her fingers onto Wolf and Falco's foreheads and began lecturing them on how crucial teamwork was in almost every situation. But as she went as far as praising her religion for encouraging such concept, Panther managed to stop her by flirting, which creeped her out (to the point of even punching the panther's face) and reminded her of her role as an instructor.
Over few months, the four pilots began training and working together to make their stay worth it, albeit with different results. They even went as well as into enjoying certain hobbies around the mountain base. Fox was already famous for being a great space pilot even prior to joining the MALAKAS Project and was always expected to greeted by happy recruits, so he spent some of his freetime telling stories of adventures involving the Star Fox. Falco loved racing in any kind and was welcomed by ironically great yet arrogant racer recruits, obviously excited to beat him in his game, something that surprised the falcon the most. Wolf was as equally famous as Fox and Falco were, but with a criminal reputation, he became a trend among all known gangs across the mountain base, a type that even a law-abiding recruit was inspired to become, and an idea he could use around Earth to reform Star Wolf. Panther was incredibly popular with female recruits, in which also gained infamy and wrath from many boyfriends, but with his soothing charisma and untamed agility, he was able to escape every conflict and earned the title as the Ladies' Man. Interestingly enough, the project's higher-ups were more proactive around the base, this time directly promoting the presence of the four pilots, which both amused Chris and upsetted his father Benjamin (the mayor of Santo Tomas also involved in the project), all over the fact that the higher-ups were such genuine childhood fans of Star Fox that they unknowingly violated their own rules enforced onto the mountain base, more specifically those about exposing the project and its dangers. Meanwhile, Laylah continued lecturing the four pilots the importance of teamwork and faith, though she had to endure Panther's flirty approach, lest she ended her lessons prematurely.
In terms of development, Fox prioritized marksmanship and alertness through firearms, Falco experimented on a mixture of flying and gun fighting, Wolf revised on mixed combat with addition of primal attacks, and Panther opted for a seductive approach in a way to catch his enemies off guard and defeat them. Main weapons, at the end of the stay, were the pair of railgun pistols (which if attached together could enforce a quadrupled firepower) for Fox, the one-handed machine gun and the ballistic knife for Falco, the customized blaster with a curved bayonet attached underneath for Wolf, and the rapier and the revolver for Panther.
In late March 2024, almost everyone in the mountain base attended to see the four Super Soldiers depart on the bus alone. While the audience expressed joy and sadness over such departure, the four pilots held a secret discussion among themselves, something about what they had learned so far. Aside from personal experiences in training and with other people, they managed to notice something less clean in the mountain base, notably damages inflicted on many spots, such as the exposed opening of the PAW Patrol HQ on the other side of Mt. Tingganda, the charred missile silo with lids burst open (where it launched one missile into Envisat on accident), numerous cuts on chain-link fences, a partially destroyed wooden observation tower, broken windows at the mountain lab, scorched vehicles, felled satellite dishes and radio masts, holes blasted by bullets and explosives onto dozens of bunkers and barrricades, and the large burnt portion of the Californian forest near the base, and not to mention of the damaged pile of Christmas decorations found in the nearby landfill.
Best of all, the four had managed to gather enough info of what went up, on the day both Star Fox and Star Wolf fought each other, the Double Dougs attempted an invasion onto the mountain base right during the Christmas Day, which was then left with significant amount of damage. It was also when the Double Dougs attempted to take control of the missile silo when they got caught in a gun fight with Super Soldiers fighting back, resulting in an accidental launch of a single missile. Both sides suffered big casualties, almost all of the Double Dougs that was, as very few Cascadian radicals managed to retreat and escape back to Western Canada, but for now they no longer posed a threat. However, all these info the four pilots had collected were exactly and already told to Peppy by Chris, though neither party was aware of the fact. Not to mention, the pilots still felt unresolved with the fire fight between two space teams prior to its abrupt end, but Panther suggested "bygones be bygones", in which Fox and Falco agreed. Wolf, despite being bummed over such a disastrous fight, relented and agreed as well, but warned Fox and Falco that next time that both Star Fox and Star Wolf meet, it would be another fight. Another week later, both Star Fox and Star Wolf parted ways and left the Earth, but not without a huge bounty planted on Wolf's head, all thanks to Leon and Pigma's big history of petty crimes across Santo Tomas.
Later at night, the higher-ups were being questioned by Benjamin over their reckless act, just as Chris had received news from the family lawyer that the criminal investigation had been concluded and charges against the four pilots were dropped. Meanwhile, the last of the Double Dougs were holed up in their very first hideout in Graham Island, taking drinks every night over their near fatal loss of the very radical group back in the mountain base back in last December, pondering on what to do next, and that was until one day where someone in formal trespassed into their hideout, not there to eliminate them, but to instead lend them a hand.
